Depending on your personal situation, people are concerned with different aspects of their diet. Some people are trying to lose weight; others are trying to reduce aches/pains/inflammation; still others are trying to minimize reactions to gluten, food dyes, preservatives/additives, etc. The problem is: it’s become increasingly difficult to avoid many of these things since they’ve become so pervasive in packaged foods and at restaurants. They add things to lengthen shelf-life, they use inflammatory foods at restaurants, and it’s just too hard to know what you’re putting in your body!
What’s the best/easiest way to ensure you’re getting quality ingredients while avoiding the nasty ones? Make it yourself! I have learned that although it does make more work for yourself, it is worth the piece of mind and the physiologically positive response from your body to just buy and put in exactly what you want and prepare it how you want it and know that it’s not going to cause negative reactions.
This can be a little daunting at first; it was for me! Before I changed my lifestyle, I was only proficient in making toast and microwaving things! haha But, Googling recipes, YouTubing tutorials, and trial and error has been quite helpful/educational. Over time I have perfected what works best for me and what flavors/tastes work for me and my family.
There are options for pre-portioned, pre-packaged keto food you can prepare yourself, too, just make sure you do your homework in terms of ingredients, food sources, etc. I personally don’t use such a service but everyone’s situations are different and maybe that what will work best for you, even if you only use it initially until you feel confident enough to go to the store and buy what you want when you want it.
