Restaurant: The Deck (MI)

This was an easy one! They had a “Meat & Threes” option, where you choose a protein and you get your choice of 3 sides. Hard to mess up with protein – they had chicken, pulled pork, ribs, etc. I went with the brisket and when choosing the sides is when it got a little complicated. Almost all of their sides were carb-heavy, with the exception of their “Korean Cucumbers”, which I got for one of my choices. I asked if I could just get a small side salad and was told yes, so for my other two sides I just got two of those with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing.

I was quite hungry, so I also ordered the Brussels Sprouts as an appetizer. Brussels Sprouts are a very healthy cruciferous vegetable! They also included red onions (which I didn’t/don’t eat) and a few pickle chips (which I do eat). So, I ended up getting a lot of food (the brussels sprouts appetizer was huge!) and even took some home for another meal later.

In the end, I got a very filling meal, high in protein, low in carbs, and some healthy veggies, too. I drank water w/lemon wedges for digestion & hydration.
